The "Umpire of the Year" award was established in 2002 as the "ACT Director of Umpires / Umpire-in-Chief 'Umpire of the Year' Award". It is granted to any financial or life member who has, in the SDU/President’s opinion, contributed significantly to the cause of umpiring in the Capital Region during the season under consideration.
